January 25, 2008 Funky Friday

As we take another detour on our road to recovery it is taking us to see another specialist down at the Karmanos cancer center on Tuesday. Here we will find out if the chemo treatments will differ from our previous plans. Julie is feeling better each and everyday. A majority of this can be contributed to her mother who has been with us through this entire ordeal. GOD BLESS HER!! And Julie's mom wants to thank everyone for all the great meals that have been sent and all the help that has been done to help us. Grandma even got a lunch and shopping date today with her girlfriend Judy, sorry Grandpa I think your credit card is going to be maxed out soon. Haha!

Myles just wants to shout out a thank you to Jewel's friend Sally for the bag full of fruit she dropped off, he was starting to go through with drawls. Jewel's wants to say thanks to Myles's buddies for the tulips and daffodils that greeted her in full bloom this morning.

Caught a surprise visitor this morning at 7:30 trying to sneak something into our mailbox. Thanks Cindy for the bible study books and the great conversation and visit this morning, it was good to see you.

Julie's girlfriend brought her a beautiful heart shaped stainglass night light. And she wanted to share the meaning behind it:
- a lite - to let you know how much you light up our friendship
- pink - for Julie's favorite color and to say you will beat this
- heart - to remind you of how much you are loved

A few more furry friends, pink of course, were delivered today to add to Julie's collection.

Thanks to Jody for stopping by today and visiting with Julie, and doing some of the laundry. (PS: Ciocia Jody thank you so much for the clean sheets and made up, I love coming home to a clean bed. From: Jac)

Julie is greatly moved and honored that even Jacqueline's friends and their families have thought to send flowers, cookie basket, and pastry baskets.
Jac's home this weekend, which brightened up Julie's day. According to Grandma its the cure that the doctor cannot perscribe, a daughter's love.

Tonight Julie is just going to spend a quiet night at home with her husband Matt, daughter Jac, son Myles, mother Barbara, and her adopted son Chris.

And remember, Live Laugh Love ... one day at a time.

Wacked Wednesday, January 23, 2008

Last night I slept in my bed with an amazing man. Felt great to be back in my own bed. Day started early at the doctors by 7:45 a.m. Ran into a friend on the way in. Mrs. Cindy from hockey. What a small world it is. Up to the doctors to remove the 33 staples painlessly.
Then we met my new best friend Dr. Morris. Here we came up with our plan of attack for
round 2 . We will be going to chemotherapy 6 times at three week intervals. Followed up by 12 monthly maintenance doses.

Came home to pancakes by Jane. What would I do without her. What a treat. Crashed until 3:00 to watch General Hospital. This is my escape from reality time. No calls will be accepted at this time. (3:00-4:00)!

I am sitting here with my new best friend Sammy the Snowmanny!! He is a 5 ft. lighted snowman Thanks to my wonderful dad he set it up right here in the front room. Thanks Kim for the great gift.

Yesterday was a good day. I started off with Doug the male nurse giving me my medicine. What a man, what a man..... and you don't want to see Harold who was ready to give me a bath. Thanks Grace for the cute card...

Once again thanks for all the new deliveries: Edible fruit basket, flowers, cookie basket and a game box. You guys are so special.....

Dinner was delivered by Tim and Angie.... thanks for the food and company.

Remember to Live, Love, Laugh!!!!

Monday, January 21,2008: Marvelous Monday

I am very excited to say Today is the day I get to type the Blog by myself. Jac was wonderful in keeping you well informed. Know it is my turn and Matts. So here it goes. My first full day home was great. Matt got to watch TV with me at 2:00 a.m. and serve me breakfast in bed at 5:30 a.m. How sweet it was. (for me any ways). Later in the morning it was my dads turn to make me some toast. It has been many, many years that he had to do that for me (but he loved it).
My sense of smell and hearing has intensified greatly. Driving my family crazy. I can smell if you had onions and if you are wearing perfume. Today, I had the pleasure of smelling my dad, Matt and Myles sneaking in a few White Castles. Busted!!!!

The Washington Elementary Basket arrived by Linda and Cheryl. ( a basket fulled of goodies that will come on some Monday's). Thanks for the stuff guys I truely enjoy it. Joe to answer your question NO I don't have any pink stilettos. Will you buy me some size 7. Cheryl and Linda thanks for the cute poem. Which I know was Cheryl's idea.

Jacqueline is on her way back to school. A very sad time for me. She has been a great help. I know she will sneak home this week-end even though I told her to stay up there.

Wednesday, is the next big step. All 33 staples will be removed at 7:50 a.m. (boy that is early).I let you know about that.

Today was just a slow day of eating, drinking liquids (yes I said liquids not liquor) walking and sleeping. I am in great hands: my mom and dad, matt and myles.

How sweet it is to me home. Thank you everyone.

Remember my motto through all this is LIVE, LOVE LAUGH !!!!
(Thats what my fortune cookie read today. Which was given by my sister-in-law Dawn. Have you every seen a rhinestone fortune cookie?)

Sunday, January 20, 2008: Home Sweet Home

Julie is finally home!!!! Yay!!!! We picked her up this morning and brought her home, where she says she is feeling better and enjoying finalyl being home with her family, and Maxine (woof woof). Maxine was so happy to see her Mommy. Julie's Mom and Dad are back in town, and her Mom is staying for awhile to be a nurse to Julie. Julie is thrilled to have her Mom here again. She is finally eating normal foods, she had french toast and bananas for breakfast this morning. Peggy (Julie's Sister) stayed with her at the hospital last night, and they had a slumber party according to Julie. Wednesday Julie will get her staple out, she has 33 of them!!!

Once again thanks to everyone to stopped by at the hospital, sent cards, flowers, prayers, phone calls, and support. The Ciolek Family really appreciated everything that you all have done for us. We love you!!!
